Rapid lead times on linear bearings and machined shafts

At this year's Midlands Design & Manufacturing exhibition at the NEC (6-7 April 2011), Schaeffler (UK) Ltd (stand 1545) will showcase a selection of its linear, rotary and ball roller bearing ranges, including a demonstration of machined shafts and linear components produced by Schaeffler's Linear Quick-Centre.

As a Group, Schaeffler offers one of the most comprehensive portfolios of linear motion products in the world. The Linear Quick-Centre facility based in South Wales enables Schaeffler UK to offer customers faster deliveries on linear systems, rails, shafts, cages and carriages, as well as customer-specific machined shafts. A wide variety of linear shafting is available, supplied with or without related linear guides or bearings. The Linear Quick-Centre reduces UK customer lead times significantly, especially on low volume linear products and shafts. Customers receive 48-hour emergency support on cut-to-length shafts, with 3 to 5 day lead times for custom, machined shafts. Shafts are available as high precision solid (one-piece), hollow or machined shafts made from quenched and tempered steel to rolling bearing quality. Solid shafts can be supplied with outside diameters from 4mm up to 80mm with shaft tolerance to H6 or higher. Shafts can be supplied in a variety of corrosion-resistant steels and with special protective coatings to suit harsh environments or high temperatures. Hollow shafts are available with outside diameters from 12mm up to 80mm, with shaft tolerances of H7. Solid or hollow shafts can be supplied in lengths up to 6m, although greater lengths can be machined (butt-jointed) to specific customer requirements. Shafts can be machined up to 6m in length, with diameters between 5mm and 80mm. Monorails can also be machined up to 6m in length. Materials include induction-hardened steel, stainless steel and aluminium support rails. At the show, Schaeffler will also be offering its RUS and PR linear recirculating roller guidance systems on fast (4-8 week) lead times. The RUS and PR are very popular with machine tool retrofitters, as the units offer very high load carrying capacities, extremely high rigidity under preload, but require little installation space.
