We do not just provide plastic bearings

We provide understanding. Our understanding of the unique challenges of each of our customers’ applications. Mechanical quirks, unusual operating conditions, distinct assembly methods, a need for stability, or preference for a specific torque level. Each customer is unique.

Unique customers need a unique solution. We use a three-step system of careful material selection, integrated bearing design and BNL-developed moulding processes, to create custom plastic bearing components that meet each application challenge. From technically demanding steering column bearings to custom haptics in control knobs, industrial processing equipment in chemically corrosive environments to conductive and non-magnetic components for ATMs.

With five decades of plastic processing experience, complemented by the GRANTA materials database of 4,000 materials, BNL follows a recognised material selection methodology to identify any design constraints imposed on the material and pinpoint those suitable for the application and customer needs. Our design team then combine key attributes, such as crush ribs or haptic features, gear teeth or pulley forms, moulded into the bearing raceways, to provide one integrated, bearing component.

Finally, we manufacture using processes designed to get the best from those materials and maximise design features; anything from strength and stiffness to impact, temperature and chemical resistance, or ease of assembly or longer life in operation.

In the end, our customers also understand us; and that we provide much more than plastic bearings.
