What you missed at this year’s Motek

In this week’s video, Artur Peplinski, vice president of igus in Germany, takes us through some of the highlights of the 112 innovations and product range extensions presented during this year’s Motek show in Stuttgart. The main themes were showing visitors to the stand how to reduce downtimes and configure products online and order them, both saving time and money.

The key focus is on igus’ smart plastics, which tell you, ahead of time, if you need to replace them. The new ECM module, which pairs with the energy chain, collects data on the technical state of the e-chain, such as speed, number of cycles and ambient temperature, while at the same time monitoring the remaining lifetime of the e-chain and the chainflex cables.

igus offers a wide range of chainflex Ethernet BUS cables – the new CFBUS.LB cable is suitable for use in extremely heavy-duty applications with a bending radius of 7.5x diameter. It is tested for more than 76 million strokes and comes with the igus’ 36-month guarantee.

The robolink DQ articulated robotic arm can be configured and ordered online for roughly 3k (euros), making robotic automation to lower-cost applications affordable.
