High precision ballscrews meet DIN standard

For design engineers that require precision ballscrews, THK UK has developed a range of precision ground ballscrews. Manufactured in Coventry, the firm's new EP ballscrews are pitch shift pre-loaded devices, ideal for applications such as machine tools where higher forces and loads tend to be handled. The EB range of ballscrews are ball selection devices, where the steel balls used in the ballscrew nut have a four rather than a two point contact geometry. This creates slightly more friction but it makes them ideal for lighter load applications and as transport screws. The complete range is available in screw shaft diameters from 16mm to 63mm, in lengths of between 550mm and 4,200mm, all meeting DIN specified levels of accuracy, to grades Cp 3 and Cp 5. The ballscrews can be specified with a choice of nuts, with different flanges and control methods include a return tube, which automatically collects and returns balls to the start of the load zone, or a deflector plate that carries out the same task but allows the profile of the nut to be greatly reduced. Screw shafts are available with bellows and screw covers for protection against swarf and coolant, and for applications with suspended dust particles, the units come with labyrinth or brush seals.
