Low cost gearmotors get even better

Low cost, low voltage gearmotors from Valeo have been made lighter, tougher and more environmentally resistant at 10 to 15% lowered cost.

The DCK range offered by Stegmann UK has redesigned bearings and improved gear strength. Specially developed for industrial applications, the strengthened gears are designed to permit motor loads to be driven into end stops a greater number of times than previously. The motor casing is both lighter, and has eliminated holes, making the motors both quieter and more environmentally resistant. Hall sensors are integrated in and the designs include integrated connectors both for sensor and power leads. Mounting is by self-tapping screws in features cast into the zinc die cast gear housings. Prices are £15 to £40 each depending on model and quantity. Most units in the range are 24V, with a few 12V. Applications include: photocopiers, shredders and other automated office machines. The motors may be found in numerous household appliances, including bed and bath lifts for the disabled, vending machines. They are used in the automated opening and closing of garage doors, automated plant and agricultural equipment, and many automated advertising signs and displays. Stegmann is also offering a SinCos encoder that is designed to be bolted onto the back of an induction motor to give it servo motor type controllability. A springy flexible mounting allows the SRS/M-64 encoder to cope with thermal motor shaft expansion and possible shaft misalignment. Attachment to the shaft is by two tapers.
