Piping system cuts installation time by 85%

Building on its existing AIRnet piping range, Atlas Copco has introduced a new family of products that come pre-torqued for simple push-together assembly.

Available in sizes from 20 to 50mm, the PF Series eliminates the need for heavy tools and is said to cut installation time by up to 85%. It uses the same lightweight and durable aluminium piping, together with aluminium and polymer fittings, as the previous generation devices. The pipes and connections are resistant to corrosion, mechanical shocks and thermal variations, while minimising pressure drop and leaks. This is said to ensure a longer lifespan, reduce stress upon the compressor unit itself and protect the downstream manufacturing process. James Houseman, product specialist at Atlas Copco Compressors, commented: "Piping is often overlooked as a component, but it can have a huge influence on the efficiency, performance and lifespan of an air system. "The new AIRnet range is designed and manufactured to remove any concerns about corrosion, leakages or loss of pressure. It also has unique features to speed up and simplify the installation process." The PF series caters for pressures from a minimum of 0.013bar to 16bar, compared with 0.13 to 13bar in the classic range. The temperature range has also been expanded, which means the piping can now operate from -20 to 80°C, compared with -4 to 70°C.
