LPE Measures up with investment in new FaroArm Technology for additive manufacturing

LPE has recently further invested to continue providing the highest quality prototypes and low volume production parts to customers. As more customers are using LPE's additive manufacturing services for production parts, the company has now invested in the inspection of final parts. The introduction of the FARO arm portable CMM unit allows LPE to meet a variety of dimensional measurement needs to ensure proper tolerances are achieved on CNC projects for customers.

LPE has recently installed the very latest in CMM (coordinate measuring machine) equipment – the FARO arm.

Using this portable system, LPE can easily verify a customer’s product quality via efficient in-line, in-process and on-machine inspections. It allows them to delivers consistent, accurate measurements directly on or at the machine producing the parts, as well as the capacity to provide CAD comparisons, reverse engineering, and accurate CMM reports to clients.

With accuracy to 0.036mm, LPE can quickly capture a prototype part’s overall and geometric feature dimensions. This can be quickly and precisely compared to nominal data in a CAD file or used as a digital record to meet our customer’s first article documentation requirements.

MD Tom Walls commented on the new addition:

“For 25 years we have provided our customers with the highest quality additive manufactured parts. With the recent addition of 3D Metal Printing and 5 axis CNC machining, more customers now require first article inspection reports, and the addition of the Faro Arm CMM will allow us to provide a professional, fast, and reliable CNC machining service to our customers”
