Handheld thermal imagers for predictive maintenance applications

Keysight Technologies has announced the addition of two higher temperature models to its thermal imagers' portfolio. The U5856A and U5857A can perform temperature measurements up to 650 and 1200°C respectively. This allows users to detect a wide temperature range for applications such as petrochemical and steel processing, electrical and mechanical applications, building maintenance and even electronics applications.

With the shift towards predictive maintenance in industrial settings, the U5850 series allows technicians and engineers to detect abnormalities without shutting down the system. Keysight's U5850 series TrueIR thermal imagers is among the first in its range that include four times in-camera fine resolution of 320 x 240 pixels from a 160 x 120 pixel detector. Together with the manual focus feature, allowing users to focus on an object as close as 10cm, providing clearer, sharper and finer details to detect problems faster.

The U5855A's design allows engineers to use the thermal imager for longer periods of time, and operate it single-handedly in tight locations. With a claimed thermal sensitivity of 0.07°C, Keysight says users can capture, save and analyse temperature changes accurately.
