Precision Gears & Gearboxes

Muffett Gears, the AS9100 approved Company specialising in the manufacture of precision gears and gearboxes recently celebrated 90 years in business.
To mark the occasion, Greg Clark MP attended a special celebration and used the opportunity to present completion certificates to 2 apprentices.

Training If our country is to prosper we need a thriving manufacturing sector in which Engineering should play a large part. One of the biggest problems in the UK's Engineering Industry is the lack of skilled people. At Muffett Gears we place great importance on training. For many years we have operated an apprentice training scheme and today we still try and recruit and train at least 2 new apprentices each year. Most of our staff have served an apprenticeship with the company and have since then helped to contribute to its success. Investment We have a policy of a continuous investment in the best and latest CNC machinery. When we obtain contract with a new customer, we work together with them and, if possible, invest in specialist machines that can produce the parts or assemblies that they require in the most efficient and cost effective way. In the last 12 months ending 31/03/2011, the company has invested some £500,000 in new machinery including a Tornos Gamma sliding head Lathe and a second Mori Seiki NV5000 Machining Centre. New machinery not only enables us to remain competitive but also helps to attract the bright young engineers that the industry needs today.
