Linear system for camera sliders

In this week’s video we see an igus drylin double profile rail being used as a camera slider - the smooth sequences being shot by Tailored Media look stunning and professional.

These camera sliders are easy to construct using a drylin W carriage and the desired length of drylin W rail to slide the camera along. The system is smooth running thanks to the bearing elements on the carriage made from iglidur high performance polymers. These bearings are self-lubricated and therefore require no maintenance.

The movement is also very quiet, as the conventional ball bearings used in camera sliders are dispensed with. The stiff aluminium profile of the rail ensures zero deflection along its entire length, with an additional benefit being that the linear system is light weight and therefore easy to carry.
