Farnell element14 launches Autodesk franchise to distribute MCAD software solutions

Farnell element14 has announced a new franchise with Autodesk to sell its products in Europe, including two new products from Autodesk, the AutoCAD LT and the AutoDesk Fusion 360.

Aimed at mechanical design engineers, AutoCAD LT is said to deliver smarter tools to bring precision to 2D drawings with applications in rendering 2D drawings and prototyping.

AutoCAD LT offers features such as line fading and smoother curves for a better visual experience; smart dimensioning, which automatically creates appropriate, context-based measurements; and the ability to produce smaller, smarter, and more searchable PDFs and even attach PDFs to drawings.

Smarter 2D drafting tools minimise repetitive tasks making work more efficient. With Trusted DWG technology, files are compatible with other AutoDesk software and support data fidelity.

Autodesk Fusion 360 is claimed to be the world’s first cloud-enabled 3D design software and is the first 3D CAD, CAM, and CAE tool of its kind, connecting the entire product development process that works on both Mac and PC allowing the user to design, test, and fabricate in a single tool.

Peter Wenzel, global software product line manager, element14, said: “As one of the most trusted CAD tool providers in the world for all engineering disciplines, Autodesk’s products complement Farnell element14’s existing capabilities and offerings and will also present new mechanical design opportunities for members of our element14 Community.”
