Engineering challenge – The Internet of things

London

Each year the IET Young Professionals holds the Engineering Challenge where our guest speaker presents on a trending topic and is then judge as the attendees compete in a small challenge to win a prize and the winner's trophy.

This year we have Dr Alison Vincent, CTA from Cisco Video Technology Group who will speak on the breakthrough Internet of Things (IoT). In her role at Cisco she embarks on concepts and technologies created to facilitate a network compatible for the IoT. In her talk she will present the solutions to some of the biggest concerns and challenges faced with building the IoT and the mass of opportunities it will bring to enhance the world we live in.

As a professional engineer, you'll need to be an excellent team worker. This project gives you the opportunity to put those skills into practice. It's also a chance to learn more about yourself and become a confident engineer.

You'll collaborate with engineers across all disciplines – just as you would in industry – and learn to think outside your specialism. As you research and present ideas, you'll improve your skills in communicating and solving complex problems. Throughout, you'll be thinking about issues from a global perspective.
