Sharing Best Practice Workshops

University of Sheffield

This workshop focusses on the tensile and compression testing of materials.

Participants will be able to:

  • Explain how and why tensile tests are performed
  • Understand the types of specimens that can be tested – shapes and different types of materials
  • Understand the importance of International Test Standards
  • Be able to set up a tensile and compression method for an International Test Standard
  • Analyse tensile and compression test data to determine elastic modulus, yield strength, tensile strength, and elongation from a stress-strain curve.

The course will be valuable for…

  • Any engineers involved in materials testing - design, manufacturing, quality and test engineers
  • Academic staff, technical staff and research students
  • Sales people and purchasing agents with technical backgrounds involved in the purchase of testing equipment
  • Anyone who wants to learn more about the best practices of tensile and compression testing

To secure a free place(s) on the workshop it is strongly advised to e-mail your preferred course date at the earliest opportunity to: Angela Hannah at events@shimadzu.co.uk or call 01908 55 22 03
