This workshop focusses on the tensile and compression testing of materials.
Participants will be able to:
- Explain how and why tensile tests are performed
- Understand the types of specimens that can be tested – shapes and different types of materials
- Understand the importance of International Test Standards
- Be able to set up a tensile and compression method for an International Test Standard
- Analyse tensile and compression test data to determine elastic modulus, yield strength, tensile strength, and elongation from a stress-strain curve.
