Schneider launches new drives and controls

Schneider Electric's new Lexium 32 range of three servo drives and two servo motor types is a simplified drive range that comes in a compact book style, offering maximum efficiency in a reduced space.

The Lexium 32 range has been developed to meet OEM architectures, with advanced tuning features and motors with a wide machine inertia. Applications span a wide range of machinery including printing, textiles, packaging and material working and handling. A key feature of the new Lexium range is its compact book size which sees the servo drive in combination with the servo motor, delivering maximum power in the minimum area, saving up to 50 per cent of the space in the machine control cabinet. With its breadth of fieldbus communication and encoder cards, the Lexium 32 range adapts to a wide variety of current architectures. The Lexium 32 servo drive offer is designed to simplify the life cycle of machines. It is integrated into the Schneider Electric automation tool, SoMachine for efficient machine engineering, with side-by-side mounting and colour-coded plug-in connectors making installation, set up and maintenance easier. Maintenance is also made quicker with new duplication and back-up tools. Improved performance is delivered by the optimised motor control, which reduces vibration with automatic parameter calculation, speed observer and additional band-stop filter which combine to increase machine productivity. These new products also work seamlessly with the new book style Altivar 32 range of variable speed drives. Designed for advanced mid-range machines, the ATV32 range covers asynchronous and synchronous motors from 0.18kW to 15kW. A key feature is the slimline book style of models up to 4kW. Models up to 1.5kW represent an industry first with a frame width of just 45mm offering the smallest footprint on the market. At this size, side-by-side mounting can mean a reduction in enclosure size of up to 40 per cent or enable more drives to be fitted into the same space. Packed into the compact package are 150 application-specific functions, simple programmable control system functions and embedded machine safety features, including safe torque off, safe limited speed and safe stop, which make the ATV32 particularly suitable for all cutting processes plus applications in the wood and metal industries.
