LCR 4.0 case study: Beverston Engineering

Based in Liverpool City Region’s Knowsley borough, Beverston Engineering specialises in the prototyping and manufacture of state-of-the-art engineering components for a range of industries. These include aerospace, oil and gas, and pharmaceutical.

In 2018, the company collaborated on an Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) project with LCR 4.0 – a part-ERDF funded business support programme which helps manufacturers adopt industry 4.0 technologies – and its delivery partner Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU).

The work with LCR 4.0 and LJMU is enabling Beverston to develop an IIoT CNC system that monitors, collects, exchanges and analyses data. The system delivers valuable insights for both the company and its customers, leading Beverston to increase its manufacturing efficiency and reduce waste and downtime.

Since working with LCR4.0, Beverston has secured funding via the Knowledge Transfer Partnership, a UK-wide programme that will deliver the IIoT concept over a three-year period.
