Faulhaber unveils new linear dc servomotor

Faulhaber has extended its range of linear dc servomotors to include a smaller, high performance module based on its QUICKSHAFT technology. The LM 0830 series measures 8 x 12 x 30mm and weighs 17g. According to the company, it provides a peak force of up to 2.74N and maximum speed of 2.4m/s. The forcer rod, which has a diameter of 4mm, is available in different lengths and allows strokes up to 40mm.

The device includes three analogue hall sensors for position and speed control feedback to eliminate the need for an additional encoder in most applications. The three output signal's are 120° phase shifted and are used by an external motion controller for commutation, speed and position control. The series of motion controllers is available with RS232 and CAN interfaces. The Motion Manager software is said to make parameter adjustment and motion control simple and fast. It is suitable for application in all fields where high precision linear movement in the most compact dimensions is necessary. Faulhaber claims the motors are highly efficient, maintenance free and provide extremely long operational lifetimes due to their simple frictionless design.
