British Engineering Services acquires non-destructive testing business, Nortest

British Engineering Services has confirmed the acquisition of Nortest Ltd, a non-destructive testing business based in Salford. This represents British Engineering Services’ first acquisition since gaining its independence from insurer RSA in November 2015 with the backing of Inflexion Private Equity Partners.

Nortest offers a range of non-destructive testing, positive material examinations and welding certification services which will support British Engineering Services’ capability to provide their customers with premium quality engineering testing, inspection and certification services throughout the UK and the Republic of Ireland.

British Engineering Services’ Group CEO, Stewart Kay, said: “Nortest has built an enviable reputation since they started trading in 1980 and this acquisition represents an excellent addition to the British Engineering Services Group.”

Nortest will continue to trade from its custom-built laboratory in Salford.

Charles King, Nortest’s managing director, added: “British Engineering Services presented a compelling description of where they wanted to take the business. I’m thrilled that everyone at Nortest will be part of that journey.”
